A Song For Your Ears?

It's an interesting idea but aren't all songs recorded like this? Each instrument with its own track and then they are all mixed together later? So basically they are wanting you to do the job of the producer or mixer or whatever? I guess it's cool in that you can be like, 'wow the music is cool but that narration is really obnoxious, let's never play that track again'.
