What is a really artistically creative, yet not entirely difficult idea for a painting.?

I'm painting a picture for my friend who is moving away. We've been very close for a very long time, and I want him to be impressed with my picture, but it also needs to be considered that I'm not Da Vinci. I would love to make him see how much I care for, and will miss him, but I don't want it to be too simple. It needs to be relevant to our relationship, and creative artistically. If anyone could give me any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated from this young aspiring canadian artist. :)
