Retainers!!!!!!!!!braces hlp!:( :)?

ok,so i got my braces of about a month ago and my teeth are seperating again! my friends who had braces got retainers but my orthidonist didnt tell me or my mother about that or anything. so if im supposed to have a retainer is that an emergcy should i be concerned ,how fast should i contact my dentist?
